COLORED NEWS Mrs. Lizzie Askew The Junior Choir of Zebulon Baptist Church wishes to extend its appreciation and thanks to Wake field Baptist Church for the ham given them as first prize last Thursday night at a Valentine party. Refreshments, prepared by Miss Mary Reid and others, con sisted of potato salad, on lettuce topped with apple rings and olives, Valentine cup cakes, ham and punch. Charles Mayo, son of the Jesse Daniels, and a graduate of St. Augustine College, is now doing his practice teaching in Creed moor. Miss Gennell Todd, daughter of the Oscar Todds, and a graduate of Shaw University, is now doing her practice teaching in Clayton. “A Trip Around the World” was sponsored by the Pastor’s Aid Society at Wakefield Baptist Church Sunday night. Mrs. Ethel Hopkins reported the highest a mount of money representing Ni geria and was crowned Miss Ni geria. Runners up were Mrs. Mar garet Taylor, Mrs. Mattie Jones and Mrs. Ada Perry, each report ed the same amount of money. Deacon Isham High placed the crown on Mrs. Hopkins. Prayer Meeting will begin Wednesday night at Wakefield Baptist Church and will continue indefinitely. Please be present. Bring another person. Rev. and Mrs. W. R. Strassner, the W. G. Jones, the J. T. Parks, the Ivan Malones, Deacon Isham High and the C. E. Askews were dinner guests last Sunday of Mrs. Hessie Cooley. Rev. and Mrs. W. R. Strassner spent the weekend with the C. E. Askews. I UNION CHAPEL Mrs. Geraldine Morris and Miss Debbie Foehl are sick with mumps. Andrew Alan Draughon is a pa . tient at Wake Memorial Hospital. Eugene Mitchell is a patient at Rex Hospital for minor surgery. Mrs. Mamie Mitchell has been 1 taking therapy for a back injury she received in a fall. Mrs. Met Hocutt of Wendell vis ited Saturday with Mrs. Morlie Creech. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Creech had supper with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Creech. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Denton and girls and Bill Denton and son of ' Zebulon called on Jim Denton and t Mrs. Nita Denton of Riley Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Massey and Tammy had supper with the Jim my Youngs last Saturday night. Mr. Young celebrated his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Denton and children and Mrs. Naomi Mitchell; were Monday night visitors of i Mrs. Mildred Ferrell. Joe Cunningham had minor; surgery last week at Wake Me- I morial. He is now at home. Mrs. Jim Denton spent Sunday : with her parents, the Paul Strick ! lands, of Rocky Cross. Bruce Young spent Saturday ! night with his grandparents, the Foster Youngs, of Zebulon. Mrs. Curtis Horton and Ted of Bunn visited her parents, the Buck Richards, Sunday.
